The classic Guernsey

Guernseys :

These are traditional garments, manufactured to an exacting standard and designed for years of wear. We carry stock from the major Channel Island manufacturers, including the famous "Le Tricoteur".

The knitting industry on Guernsey commenced in the early 16th century, when licences were granted by the Crown to import wool from England. Originally hand-knitted in one piece, the Guernsey sweater developed as a warm, hard-wearing garment for seamen. Although now machine-knitted, the tradition continues. The Guernseys we stock are made using the best English worsted wool, whose long fibres have been combed parallel to each other before spinning, reducing the likelihood of the surface fibres being disturbed by rubbing and giving a smooth surface and clear stitch definition. The main panels are machine-knitted but every garment is then finished by hand. The result is a strong, long-lasting garment that will hold its shape in both wearing and washing.

In addition to the classic Guernsey we also stock Guernsey crew-necks, Guernsey cardigans and Guernsey gilets (a sleeveless cardigan).

Prices for the Guernsey range, together with ordering information and an order form, can be found on either of the separate Flamborough Marine web-sites:

The Links Page :

As the range of our activities is so diverse, we have a number of different websites. The main Flamborough Manor site, which is where you are now, focuses primarily on accommodation but has brief details of all our other activities. To allow for more information to be presented on these other activities, there are other self-contained web-sites and some of the links you will encounter while browsing these pages will take you to these separate sites.

All our web-sites have a LINKS page in common, which allows for easy navigation between the various sites. To find out where you are, or to return to the main site, simply go to the LINKS page.
