Listed below is my current
stock in this subject, sorted in alphabetical
order, by author. Please note that it is
difficult to categorize some titles, which
overlap different subjects; in these cases, the
easiest procedure would be use the search box,
which covers my entire stock. However, if
searching for a particular title on this page
only, the simplest method is to use "Control-F"
to bring up the "Find" dialogue on screen. I
have described the books as accurately as
possible but will of course accept returns if a
particular item is inadvertently not as

George [Ed.] The Illustrated Dictionary of Gardening
: A Practical and Scientific Encyclopaedia of
Horticulture for Gardeners and Botanists [8 vols]
London: L. Upcott Gill, c. 1884-9 7½ x 10. Richly
decorated green cloth covers. Tops and bottoms of
spines bumped and spotting throughout; vol. VI has a
quarter-inch circular hole in the centre of the
spine. Otherwise an excellent and very attractive
set. The Dictionary of Gardening was first issued in
monthly parts, commencing with A to Allium in March
1884, through to Xerotes to Zygostates in October,
1887. Each volume is profusely illustrated with
steel engravings and also contains beautifully
coloured lithographs.
